What is Quartz, and How Do We Use It for Countertops?

Quartz is a man-made material manufactured by combining quartz stone, a naturally forming material, and resin. When combined, those materials create a tough and durable surface that is perfect for kitchen worktops. Once you’ve selected the quartz for your new kitchen worktop, our state-of-the-art factory uses an innovative laser-templated machine to design, cut, and manufacture your new kitchen worktop, which is then hand-finished to ensure a lasting worktop. This process allows us to recreate your selected quartz kitchen top to the highest quality.

Our Quartz Kitchen Top Installation Process

When you choose us to handle the design and installation of your new quartz kitchen worktop, you get access to an in-depth process designed to deliver exclusive products and an eco-friendly approach built around sustainable stone. Our team sources sustainable materials that boost the environment while providing your home with a gorgeous worktop. When it comes to installation, our team will get exact measurements of your kitchen and give those to our highly-trained worktop fitters, stonemasons, and templaters to create your new quartz worktops. This process begins with our expert showroom staff, who will help you find the right quartz for your needs and help you process your order.

  • What are the Benefits of Using Quartz Kitchen Worktops?

Quartz kitchen worktops regularly top the list for the most popular surfacing material for kitchens, bathrooms, or breakfast bars. This is partly due to the variety of styles and the range of colours available, and they can be custom fabricated to meet your home’s unique needs. We’ve found that quartz kitchen worktops are the ultimate balance of beautiful natural stone while being an easy-maintenance and affordable material. If you want more reasons why you should install quartz worktops, review our additional benefits:

    • Quartz is Non-Porous – Our quartz countertops are made from roughly 93% quartz which offers two different benefits. Quartz is a non-porous material which makes it stain resistant. This means that if liquids are cleaned soon after a spill, you shouldn’t have any concerns. Also, due to the non-porous structure of quartz, your new kitchen worktops won’t require sealing. Certain materials must be sealed to prevent stains, which is time-consuming. Thankfully, quartz doesn’t require sealing.
    • Low-Maintenance – Along with being non-porous, all our quartz worktops are low maintenance. Any spills can be quickly wiped up, avoiding the need for scrubbing or special cleansers.
    • Durability – On average, the kitchen is one of the busiest places in your home, so you need a worktop that can hold up to anything. Our quartz kitchen tops are solid and durable enough to handle anything. As an added benefit, each of our quartz worktops is heat resistant, allowing you to relax more in the kitchen.
    • Variety of Styles – One of our favourite benefits of a quartz countertop is the variety of styles, colours, and patterns. Quartz can also mimic the look of other materials, such as marble, granite, or even concrete. Each of our quartz countertops is made to order, meaning you can have odd angles, curves, or even a waterfall edge. You get t0 choose the finish and style, allowing you to get the exact look you want.
    • Reduced Imperfections – If you’ve looked closely at a marble slab or another stone, you’ll notice some minor naturally occurring imperfections. These may be small but will continually grow over time. Our manufactured quartz countertops are made in controlled quantities with quality control to prevent pits or other imperfections from appearing.

How to Care and Maintain Your Marble Quartz Worktop

Our quartz countertops are incredibly resilient, which makes routine care and cleaning a simple and straightforward process. In addition, with precautions in place to prevent stains, dents, or scratches, your new quartz kitchen worktops can add beauty and a sense of permanence to your home for years to come. To ensure your quartz worktop can handle anything you require of it, we’ve put together a few tips on how to care for and maintain your quartz worktops properly:

  • Cleaning – We recommend wiping your quartz countertops with ordinary household dish soaps and a soft cloth. If you have dried-on residue on your new worktop, we recommend soaking it and then gently scraping it off with either a soft edge scraper or a plastic spatula. If you have any issues with any greasy substances on your worktops, we recommend finding a cleaning spray designed explicitly for quartz countertops and use as needed.
  • Preventing Damage – While quartz is stain and heat-resistant, it’s highly recommended to clean up spills quickly and to avoid placing hot items directly onto your countertops. If left untouched, these can lead to stains and damage to your quartz countertops. We recommend using a cutting board instead of chopping food directly on your new worktop. They are scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof. Lastly, we recommend avoiding harsh cleaners or anything highly acidic such as nail polish, oven cleaning, drain cleaners, and bleach on your quartz worktop if possible.
